Common
Questions.

How do I use QRGen?

Head to the generator on the home page, select a QR type (URL, text, WiFi, etc.), fill in the details, and your code renders instantly. From there you can download it or style it with AI.

Is it free to use?

Yes. QRGen is completely free for personal and commercial use — no accounts, no usage limits, no watermarks.

What types of QR codes can I create?

Seven types: URL (website links), plain text, WiFi credentials (auto-joins networks when scanned), vCard contacts (name, phone, email, address), email (pre-filled mailto), SMS (pre-filled text message), and phone number (tap to call).

What download formats are supported?

Standard QR codes export as PNG (raster, great for screens) or SVG (vector, scales infinitely for print). AI-styled codes download as high-resolution PNG images.

Is my data stored?

No. Standard QR codes are generated entirely in your browser using a client-side library. When you use AI styling, your QR image and prompt are sent to Google Gemini for processing but are not stored by QRGen.

How does AI styling work?

You describe a visual style in plain language — like "watercolor forest" or "neon cyberpunk." QRGen sends your QR code and prompt to Google Gemini, which redesigns the code artistically while preserving its scannability.

Will AI-styled QR codes still scan?

Yes. The AI prompt is engineered to preserve the QR code's data pattern. That said, always test the result with your phone's camera before printing — highly abstract styles may occasionally reduce reliability.

What is the "Enhance" option?

Enhance refines your prompt before sending it to the AI. "Auto" lets the system decide, "On" always enhances for richer results, and "Off" sends your prompt exactly as written.

What are the quality options (1K, 2K, 4K)?

1K is fastest and fine for screen use. 2K is the default balance of speed and detail. 4K produces the highest resolution for large prints but takes longer to generate.

What browsers are supported?

Any modern browser with Canvas and SVG support — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. QRGen works on both desktop and mobile devices.
